Marquard - The 29-year-old suspect arrested in connection with the attack of an elderly couple in Marquard in the Free State yesterday (Wednesday), is expected to appear in the Clocolan Magistrates Court tomorrow (Thursday).
According to police spokesperson Phumelelo Dhlamini, the suspect was arrested only hours after attacking and stabbing Johan Greyling and his wife Maria in their farmhouse. He was later found at an empty dam, where he was hiding from police.
The 79-year-old Greyling is still in a stable condition in the Dihlabeng Hospital in Bethlehem. He was stabbed several times in the chest and suffered cuts to his face. His wife sustained lacerations to her arm and other bruises.
The suspect fled the scene with R2 000 in cash, which was recovered during the arrest.
