CALLING ALL BAKKIE ENTHUSIASTS

───   12:58 Tue, 05 Feb 2013

Central South Africa’s most trusted vehicle, the bakkie, will once again be celebrated at Nampo Park just outside Bothaville during the annual Engen OFM Bakkie Day Music festival in association with Grain SA. Owners of the ever popular bakkie, their friends and family are again invited to flood the 4th annual event on February, 23.

The Bakkie Day music festival celebrates the uniqueness of Central South Africa and the central role of the bakkie. The event brings over 5 000 OFM listeners to a well-equipped venue and offers them a music show and over 50 exhibitors from across the country.

If you think your bakkie is boss, perhaps because it is the newest, oldest, brightest, dirtiest or even the weirdest, send us a photo and your details to bakkie@ofm.co.za; there will be some prizes up for grabs at the event. Event organisers will also be on the lookout for the toughest bakkie on the track at an obstacle course where bakkies and their drivers will show off how well they can handle whether on steeps, descents, tricky traverses, muddy or rocky roads.

Merry makers will be entertained with tunes by Pieter Koen, Die Campbells, Elizma Theron, Bobby van Jaarsveld, Zak Steyn and K2. Tickets are available at the gate for R120 per adult while children enter free.

Being in Bothaville might not sound glamorous, however, be ready for an exhilarating day as Central South Africans come together to celebrate their love for the bakkie, outdoors and agriculture.
