snow in the Arizona desert halted the opening round of the WGC Match Play Championships yesterday.  Play was suspended in the late morning, and by the time play was called for the day, about four centimetres had accumulated on the ground.  Play is set to resume today with Spain's Sergio Garcia the nearest to victory.  He is leading Thongchai Jaidee 2-up.  Only 10 of the 64 first-round matches have not teed off at the Dove Mountain course.  One of those is world number 1, Rory McIlroy who will go up against Irishman Steve Lowry.
