An OFM presenter has been killed in a car crash. Lindsay Batteson-Kritzinger was killed yesterday afternoon at around 17:00, five kilometres from Theunissen in the direction of Brandfort. Free State police spokesperson Thandi Mbambo says there was a collision between the bakkie Batteson-Kritzinger was travelling in and a Toyota Tazz that was in the wrong lane after overtaking another vehicle. In an effort to avoid the collision, the bakkie overturned. Mbambo says the driver of the Tazz sped off and the car was later found abandoned in a local township. A case of culpable homicide has been registered.

Batteson-Kritzinger died on the scene and her mother-in-law, Alna Kritzinger, on the way to hospital. Batteson-Kritzinger's husband, Jake Kritzinger, and her father-in-law, Koos, were admitted to Mediclinic Welkom. Jake was taken to theatre last night to treat his lacerations, while Koos was held overnight for observation. Hospital manager, Frans van Niekerk, says both are in a stable condition in a general ward and family and friends are at their bedside.

OFM general manager, Nick Efstathiou, said Batteson-Kritzinger will be sorely missed - she brought lots of joy and happiness to her environment and has been part of the OFM team for more than six years. Central Media's thoughts and prayers are with the family during this tragic time. A dedication to Batteson-Kritzinger will be broadcast in the week.
