Medical supplies run low at Syrian relief camps─── 11:29 Tue, 23 Apr 2013

Medical supplies are running low in war-torn Syria, where a South African medical team is stationed to assist residents of the war-torn country.
Cassiem Bhorat, a doctor with relief organisation, Gift of the Givers, says supplies amounting to R4 million have virtually been used up. He and 12 other medical personnel returned from Syria yesterday, while the rest of the 40-strong South African contingent will leave today and tomorrow.
Bhorat said between 15 and 20 major surgeries were performed on a daily basis, and once Gift of the Givers volunteers return home, the two established hospitals should be able to continue helping the injured. Bhorat admits though, this will be challenging.
