Welkom - Today is a happy day for Lerato Radebe, the Rastafarian girl from Welkom, who has since the beginning of the year, been prohibited from attending class because of her dread locks.
The 13-year-old girl pitched for school but was forced to sit in the staff room all day. She was only allowed to join her mates on 13 occasions.
On Friday the high court in Bloemfontein ordered that she indeed be taught at Leseding Technical School as of today and that a catch-up plan must be drafted, completed and implemented by 16 July.
Judge Phalatsi also ordered the state, the school governing body and principal to pay her legal fees.
Lerato's mother, Selloane is very happy for her child.
