Bloemfontein - Truant doctors performing remunerated work outside the Public Service, might be given amnesty by the Free State Health MEC.
Benny Malakoane has urged these doctors to come clean. He says if they come forward they could be free from facing fraud charges. He is also considering instituting an investigation into the abuse of the RWOPS with the help of SARS and an auditing firm.
Malakoane has requested hospital CEO’s to intensively monitor doctors whose applications for RWOPS have been approved.
Malakoane expects written requests for amnesty in his office by 27 May.
