Botshabelo - Police reinforcements have been deployed to Botshabelo outside Bloemfontein to quell gang-violence in the Free State town.

In the latest incident, police were called to the scene of a crime in the early hours of this morning where two alleged members of the BTK group were found hacked and killed.

“On our arrival we found the body of Thabo Mathosa, aged 20, in a pool of blood. Few metres from his body we also found the body of Lebogang Mothibe, aged 21, who was also in a pool of blood. Both deceased were allegedly hacked with pangas,” says police spokesperson, Consolation Mokoale.

She says the latest gang-violence flared up on Saturday when another alleged member of the BTK group was hacked and killed.

The reported incidents are however limited to Botshabelo’s M and L-sections.

Mokoale says police members will monitor the situation in both sections. This after attempts by gang-members to disrupt some schools earlier on Wednesday morning.

The police were also aware of alleged involvement by ordinary Botshabelo residents who had attempted to rob and loot shops belonging to foreigners.

Mokoale says the seven people arrested are expected to appear in court on Friday.
