DA and Cope stay away at NC house sitting─── 12:50 Thu, 23 May 2013
Kimberley - The DA and Cope stayed away from this morning’s House Sitting in Kimberley at which Social Development MEC, Alvin Botes, was due to present his budget vote speech for the very department he is alleged to have defrauded.
This move was based on a decision taken by the joint opposition in November 2012, to walk out of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature due to the fact that two members of the Executive Council, John Block and Alvin Botes, are being embroiled in a multitude of serious criminal charges.
The DA's Karen de Kock says their continued presence in the House makes a mockery of democratic principles.
