Thousands of compact Nissan cars recalled due to faulty steering─── 17:24 Thu, 23 May 2013
Japanese carmaker Nissan has announced it's recalling some 841 000 compact cars worldwide due to a steering wheel problem.
The recall will cover the Micra and Cube models produced in Japan and Britain between 2004 and 2006.
Only the Micra is sold in South Africa, and Nissan SA spokesperson Veralda Schmidt says only around 7 000 vehicles here are affected.
A bolt in the steering wheel system may not be fastened appropriately, and in the worst-case scenario, the cars can't be steered properly.
No accidents have been reported relating to the glitch.
Schmidt has stressed that it's a voluntary recall
