Cosatu etoll protest to go ahead

───   06:06 Fri, 24 May 2013

Johannesburg - Cosatu plans to go ahead with a go-slow against etolling today despite failed attempts at getting permission. Last night, the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court dismissed Cosatu's application for authorisation on the highway motorcade. The union's spokesperson Patrick Craven said the protest will go ahead, starting at Cosatu house at 8am, despite the ruling. The union federation approached the court after failing to get permission from the Johannesburg metro police. Metro police chief, Wayne Minnaar said law enforcement agencies will be on standby today to ensure the protest does not go ahead. The planned motorcade is to be held on the M1 north, N1 south, N12, and M2 north highways in Johannesburg. Electronic tolling is due to be implemented soon.
