Hike in vehicle theft in eastern FS─── 12:10 Mon, 17 Jun 2013
Bethlehem - There has been a hike in vehicle theft in the Eastern Free State.
Analysis by crime intelligence revealed that clusters such as Phuthaditjhaba, Bethlehem, Ficksburg, and Ladybrand experienced a hike in the theft of motor vehicles between February and May this year, compared to the same period last year.
The most targeted type of vehicles during that period were bakkies and minibuses that were taken to Lesotho and in some instances to Bergville in KwaZulu Natal.
Most of the vehicles were left unlocked and were stolen between 4pm and 8pm.
