Sars commissioner probe almost complete:report | News Article
Pretoria - The findings of an investigation into allegations of impropriety against SA Revenue Service (Sars) commissioner Oupa Magashula will be presented to the finance minister by the end of the month, Business Day reported on Tuesday.

Treasury spokesman Jabulani Sikhakhane reportedly said the investigation was almost complete.

Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan appointed retired Constitutional Court judge Zak Yacoob in April to lead an inquiry into allegations that Magashula offered a young woman a job at Sars without following procedure.

"The committee that was appointed [to probe the allegations]... is in the process of completing its report," Sikhakhane said.

"It is expected that the report will be handed to the minister by the end of June. Further announcements in this regard will be made in July."

When Gordhan announced the inquiry in April, Magashula said during a Summit TV interview that he welcomed the investigations headed by "an independent person of good standing".
