The fourth annual Nelson Mandela International Day will be launched in Johannesburg today as the iconic former president spends his twelfth day in hospital.
The Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory and the United Nations will also begin the official countdown to Madiba's 95th birthday on July 18th.
In 2009, the UN recognised Mandela’s birthday as an international day for people to do good in their communities.
Sello Hatang, the centre’s CEO, says people should continuoulsy make a difference in their communities and not only during the 67 minutes on Mandela’s birthday.
Meanwhile the police and media contingent outside the hospital continues to decrease. Madiba remains in a serious but stable condition due to a lung infection.
