Potchefstroom - The North West Department of Health has acknowledged the issues raised by the North West Provincial Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Health yesterday following a visit to the Provincial Medical Depot in Mahikeng.
The Department refuted claims of expired medication lying around the depot.
Health spokesperson Tebogo Lekgethwane says there is only one rarely used item which expired in May 2013.
Lekgethwane says the process to register the depot with the Medicines Control Council is currently underway, after it was determined that the facility has yet to be registered despite having had two years prior to do so.
