Al-Attiyah wins Stage 8 of the Dakar, De Villiers remains in third overall─── 10:02 Tue, 14 Jan 2014

Bloemfontein - Qatari driver Nasser al-Attiyah claimed the honours in the 8th stage Dakar Rally which crossed the Andes Mountains from Bolivia into Chile.
Al-Attiyah completed the 302 km stage in a time of 2 hours 32 minutes 57 seconds.
11-Time champion, Stephane Peterhansel of France was second in the stage, with Spain's Carlos Sainz third.
South Africa’s Geniel de Villiers completed the route 9 minutes 21 seconds behind al-Attiyah, which was only good enough for 7th, however he remains in third in the overall standings.
Today’s stage between Calama in Chile to the Iquique, the second most northerly stop on rally, covers a distance of 451km.
