Kimberley - The Sol Plaatje municipality has pleaded with Kimberley residents to use water sparingly.
Municipal spokesperson Sello Matsie says the city has been hit by a heat wave for almost three weeks.
He says this has resulted in the soaring of water usage, and the water level at the Newton reservoir has been steadily dropping.
Matsie says they’re monitoring the situation and hope for good rain very soon to alleviate the situation. But should the situation not improve, they might have to resort to night shutdowns which he says they want to avoid. He says these might start as soon as this Friday night.
