Bloemfontein - 50 years to the day after stopping the great Sonny Liston in Miami to become the world heavyweight champion, boxing great Muhammad Ali has posted his first tweet on the social media platform Twitter.
Although the account already has 131 000 followers and has posted nearly a 1 200 tweets, yesterday’s tweet was the first posted by the great himself.
The account is run by the Muhammad Ali Centre in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky.
Ali, who was known as Cassius Clay when he beat Liston to become the world heavyweight champ posted: “I shook up the world against Liston, now 50 years later I'm taking it to Twitter #AliTweet,"
