Bloemfontein - The Crusaders are wary of the Toyota Cheetahs scrum ahead of their Super Rugby clash on Saturday in Bloemfontein.

Crusaders assistant coach and former All Blacks prop, Dave Hewett, told OFM Sport this afternoon that they have been impressed with the work Os du Randt has been doing with the front row.

The 22-Test veteran went on to say he doesn’t agree with Chiefs coach, Dave Rennie's sentiments that the Cheetahs scrum illegally.

"That's probably the sort of comment you would get from the Chiefs if things don't go their way, and it didn't. I thought the Cheetahs did really well at scrum-time, said Hewett.

The Crusaders today named Owen Franks on the bench for the match against the Cheetahs, with young Nepo Laulala starting at tighthead against Trevor Nyakane.

Hooker Corey Flynn, who is considered a strong scrummager, starts ahead of Ben Funnell.

Saturday’s match at the Free State Stadium kicks off at 17:05.
