Bloemfontein - African Warriors and Bloemfontein Celtic will look to for positive results at home when they play hosts Maritzburg United and Bidvest Wits respectively in the Nedbank Cup quarterfinals in the weekend.

Warriors, the only National First Division (NFD) side left in the competition, have been in this round before, but failed to go through after being knocked out by United FC.

However, assistant coach, Abram Nteo, told OFM Sport that this time the team is looking to improve.

“We want to go as far as we can. Last year we did well, and I want us to improve this time,” he said.

“We are targeting the semifinals, or the final, why not? It is possible and we stand a good chance. However, we are taking it game by game. We are playing at home; anything can happen,” he added.

Meanwhile, Siwelele will host the 2009/10 champions in Botshabelo, with the hope of making it further in this competition too.

John Maduka, the manager, said the Bloemfontein side has a chance to go beyond quarterfinals this season, because they are playing at home.

“We stand of good chance. We are playing at home and have been doing well at home, so we will make sure we continue where we left off,” he told OFM Sport.

Last season, Siwelele made the quarterfinals, where they were knocked out by Kaizer Chiefs, after crushing Milano United 4-1 then Free State Stars 2-1 in the first and second rounds respectively.

However, Maduka is confident about the team’s chances this season.

“We want to go further in this competition. We want to go all out and win the title, because we can. We have the team to carry us through, so we just need to give our all against Wits and the results will come,” he said.

Both matches kick off at 15:00 on Saturday (12 April 2014) and Sunday (13 April 2014) respectively.
