Bloemfontein - South Africa’s Chani Scheepers has climbed nine spots in the latest WTA-rankings after reaching the semi-finals of the Copa Claro Colsanitas.
She now occupies the 70th place in the world rankings.
The first-seeded Jelena Jankovic of Serbia beat Scheepers 6-1, 7-4 in the semi-finals of the clay court tournament.
Before the semis Scheepers had not dropped a single set in beating Italy’s Karin Knapp, Russia’s Alexandra Panova and Spain’s Lournes Dominguez Lino en route to her showdown against Jankovic.
The fifth-seeded Caroline Garcia of France beat Jankovic 6-3, 6-4 in the final.
