Paul Roux - Officials attending yesterday’s launch of the Bethlehem/Paul Roux bulk water project say the timing of the launch has nothing to do with the forthcoming election, but was necessary to provide timeous feedback to the community.

Water Affairs regional head Tsiliso Ntili says the event also provided a platform to launch phase two of the project, due to be completed within six months.

He says it would have been improper to continue with further development before providing the community with feedback on progress to date.

Ntili says the focus now turns to the development of the waste water treatment works for the area, which should be completed as early as July this year.

He says yesterday’s launch has paved the way for the total eradication of the bucket system in the area within the next few months.
