Heavy traffic expected on major routes

───   08:08 Mon, 21 Apr 2014

Heavy traffic is expected on major road routes and at border posts today as people who had travelled for the Easter weekend begin returning home.

Road Traffic Management Corporation spokesperson Thato Mosena says traffic should only start declining from around 3pm as people reach their destinations.

The N3 Toll concession has also called on road users to plan accordingly and to start their journey earlier. Traffic is expected to increase from 11 am this morning and congestion on Van Reenen's Pass can be expected.

Meanwhile, Easter road fatality statistics are expected later this week. According to preliminary reports more than 30 people have died and more than 50 were injured.
