Nkandla ad hoc committee met briefly this morning─── 12:35 Thu, 24 Apr 2014
Cape Town - Parliament's multi-party ad hoc committee that will consider the Public Protector's Nkandla report, met briefly this morning before being adjourned to Monday when its work is expected to start in earnest.
The committee, which is being chaired by Eastern Cape ANC MP, Cedric Frolick, will also consider president Jacob Zuma's response to advocate Thuli Madonsela's lengthy report.
Frolick said members of the committee, which meets from 12:00 on Monday, should prepare for the long haul.
Among her findings and recommendations was that president Zuma and his family had unduly benefited from the more than R200 million spent on Nkandla's security upgrades, adding that Zuma should repay some of that costs.
Madonsela also called for action against other role-players after identifying enormous cost escalations in the project.
