Botshabelo - Police in Botshabelo say they've reduced crimes related to Satanism and gangsterism that the town has become known for.
Police spokesperson Tseko Mokgahle says heading into the elections these crimes are under control.
A spate of crimes have been reported in Botshabelo of late, mostly related to gangsterism.
President Jacob Zuma last year visited the town to show support for families that were struggling in this regard.
Mokgahle is calling on the community to never-the-less remain vigilant.
Mokgahle says domestic violence is still a major issue as police cannot control what happens inside individual households.

He says police have implemented a “stop and search” strategy, where any resident can randomly be stopped and searched by the police.
