Durban - Organisers of the Old Mutual joBerg2c mountain bike race are constructing the world's longest floating pallet bridge over the Vaal Dam.
The bridge features at the beginning of today's first stage of the gruelling 900km, nine day stage race.
Some 750 riders are expected to start the race, which ends at Scottburgh beach on the KZN south coast next weekend.
Event organiser Craig Wapnick says the mountain bikers will enter KZN on Monday - with a 121-km ride from Sterkfontein Dam in the Free State to Winterton.
