Bloemfontein - Former Stormers and Melbourne Rebels centre, JP du Plessis, will be joining the Toyota Cheetahs from French Top 14 club, Montpellier.

Du Plessis will fill the gap left by Johann Sadie, in midfield when he departs for Japan.

The player is a powerful runner with a ball and is renowned for punching holes through opposing backlines.

The former Paul Roos Gymnasium scholar is still considered to be one of the most talented midfielders to come from the rugby powerhouse.

He also had a stint in Rugby League for the Sydney Roosters straight after school, before switching back to Union.

The Cheetahs meanwhile have named an unchanged match-23 to face the Lions for their final Super Rugby match of the season.

Saturdays’ match at Ellis Park kicks off at 17:05.
