Bloemfontein -  The Toyota Cheetahs have received a major boast as they look to put the Super Rugby season behind them.

With the recent signing of former Stormers utility back, Joe Pietersen and Lions eighthman, Willie Britz, to bolster their ranks, the Bloemfontein-based side have been able to retain one of their stars.

Springbok winger, Cornal Hendricks, has extended his contract, which was due to expire at the end of this season.

The former Sevens star, opted to staying in the Free State, despite interest from Western Province and the Blue Bulls.

Although it's unlikely Hendricks will be featuring much in the Currie Cup, he's contract renewal is welcome news ahead of in the wake of the mass exodus form the side.

With the Super Rugby done and dusted for the Cheetahs, their now shift their attention to the Currie Cup, with their first match on 9 August against the newly promoted Pumas at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.
