Bloemfontein - The Provincial Council on Aids (PCA) in the Free State has responded to the memorandum that was handed to them last Thursday by members of the Treatment Action Campaign (TAC).
PCA head of secretariat, Tefo Tabi, says the council will act as mediator between the provincial health department and the TAC to address some of the health system issues in the province.
Tabi says the PCA's mandate is to provide oversight in civil society matters and this is what they intend to do by ensuring that the healthcare workers receive their compensation.
Hundreds of community healthcare workers have pledged to stage night vigils at the provincial heath department's headquarters, Bophelo House, every Wednesday until September, when over 100 TAC members, who were arrested during a sit-in, will again appear in court.
