Heat could play a factor in Colombo

───   09:26 Wed, 23 Jul 2014

Bloemfontein -  Proteas all-rounder, Ryan McLaren feels the sides’ seamers will be used in shorter spells in Colombo, when the second Test gets underway tomorrow.

McLaren told Ofm Sport that a looming first Test series win in Sri Lanka will serve as enough motivation for the players, and they are aware of the fact that they could be rewriting the history books.

The former Chevrolet Knights stalwart, said the heat in the Sri Lankan capital city could beat a major factor when it comes to the South African bowling attack.

He feels that the spinners could play a bigger role, on a pitch which is a lot flatter and less conducive to spin.

Furthermore, he said the Sri Lanka could also have asked for a pitch with a bit more spin to be prepared, due to the current status of the series.

South Africa go into tomorrow’s Test with a one-nil lead in the series after beating the hosts by 153-runs in Galle.
