Mommy Matters - Is your teen suffering from depression?─── 13:19 Mon, 15 Sep 2014
Often parents see the mood swings and tantrums of their teens as bad behaviour and yes, this may be true at times but needs to be monitored closely. Is your teenager displaying violent behaviour or has he/she withdrawn themselves from family life? Gavin Fish explains that this may be the signs of teenage depression. As adults we can not ignore the fact that life is hard for teens and that a broken heart hurts as much as it would an adult. Take a listen to his advice in the podcast below.
Gavin Fish is a father, high school principle and author of the book "Taming the teenager". He explains that we do not talk to our teens enough and that when they do not want to talk us as parents, we just go on. But leaving issues unresolved will result in your teen blowing up. On the opposite end of a tantrum is your teen not saying a word, which one is worse? That is difficult to say, but parents need to make time to sit down and talk to their teenagers!
