'Decisive action against terrorism lacking' | News Article

Bloemfontein - It’s a pity that it took the kidnapping of Nigerian school girls by Boko Haram to awaken the world to the danger posed by terrorism.

Martin Ewie, a senior researcher at the Institute for Security Studies, says the world-wide response to the kidnapping of the girls on April 14 this year, has been overwhelming.

Ewie says thousands of people are killed by terrorist groups, such as the 250 killed when Al Qaeda bombed embassies in Nairobi and Dar Es Salaam in 2008.

He says despite these violations, there still seems to be a lack of decisive action against groups like Boko Haram.
