Peace and stability will return to the mountain kingdom: Ramaphosa─── SABRINA DEAN 07:37 Sat, 18 Oct 2014
Maseru - South Africa’s Deputy President and SADC facilitator Cyril Ramaphosa says he is confident that the road map agreed to by various Lesotho stakeholders will ensure long-term peace and stability in the mountain kingdom.
Ramaphosa and incumbent Prime Minister Thomas Thabane addressed media at Lesotho Sun yesterday shortly after King Letsie III reopened Parliament. Ramaphosa describes the occasion as the first of several signposts on the road to stabilising Lesotho.
He says the next major signpost will be when Parliament is dissolved early in December allowing members of Parliament to start campaigning for elections in February 2015.
Ramaphosa added it is important to note that the roadmap has been fully embraced by all political parties represented in Parliament, as well as being underwritten by numerous stakeholders ranging from traditional leaders to NGOs and churches.
Ramaphosa is expected back in Lesotho on Monday and said he will be in and out of the country until well after next years elections.
