Khama re-elected as Botswana president─── 07:44 Sun, 26 Oct 2014
Gaborone - Botswana President Ian Khama has won a second term in power after his party secured a parliamentary majority at the polls.
High Court Chief Justice Maruping Dibotelo announced in a statement that Khama "has been re-elected as the President of the Republic after his political party, the Botswana Democratic Party garnered at least 29 of the 57 parliamentary seats" at Friday's general election.
The election was seen as the most competitive for the BDP, which has ruled Botswana since independence from Britain in 1966, after a split in the party in 2010.
