Bloemfontein - Free State sprinter, Wayde van Niekerk, has his sights set on another South African record this evening, when he runs in the 200m at the Diamond League meet in Lausanne.
The Kovies student recently smashed the South African 400m record by running a time of 44,38 seconds at the Diamond League meet in New York last month.
The 21-year-old from Bloemfontein will be up against Jamaica’s Yohan Blake tonight night as he aims to better the current SA record set by Morné Nagel 13-year ago, 20.11 seconds.
Last week he won the 200m at a permit meeting in Stockholm, Sweden in a time of 20,53 seconds.
