Bloemfontein - South Africa will be targeting their first medal in the 20th Commonwealth games in Glasgow, when triathlete Richard Murray competes in the individual triathlon, at Strathclyde Park, this afternoon.
 
The 1.5km swim, 40km cycle and 10km run event is only one of 57 events across nine sporting that Team South Africa athletes will compete in on day one.
 
Murray is favoured to win Team South Africa’s first medal at the 2014 Games.
 
Murray has been listed as third-favourite for the men's triathlon behind the Brownlee brother of England.
 
Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee – are the hot favourites to pick up the gold and silver medals, respectively.
The Triathlon gets underway at 16:00 this afternoon.
