ASA accept Magakwe's two-year ban | News Article

Athletics South Africa President, Aleck Skosana has accepted the IAAF’s two-year banned imposed on South African men’s 100m sprint record holder, Simon Magakwe.

The Rustenburg sprinter, who became the first South African sprinter break the 10 second barrier of the distance with his 9,98 sprint in Pretoria last year was slapped with a heavy two-year ban from athletics for refusing to undergo a routine doping test on 22 December, 2014.

Skosana simply said that the rules are there to be observed and that they need to be respected.

Magakwe’s ban will see him miss this years’ IAAF World Championship in China, as well as next years’ summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

The athlete can compete again after 22 December 2016.
