Barkly West - Two Barkly West men have appeared in the local magistrate's court on a charge of attempted murder.

It is alleged that Bothata Daniels, went to look for a friend at the Rietgat Resort last Tuesday, when he was allegedly racially abused by the owner of the pub.

The owner, Rohan Bekker and a friend Peter Watson allegedly shoved the complainant into the back of a bakkie and drove off. The complainant alleged that he was taken to a place where they bound his hands with cable ties.

The two suspects then drove to the Vaal river bridge where they untied the complainant and pushed him off the bridge. The suspects then drove off. Daniels managed to swim to safety.

Watson was released on R1000 bail while Bekker remains in custody.
