Bloemfontein - Former Chevrolet Knights batsman, Dean Elgar, who now plies his trade at the Titans, is looking forward to getting more Test matches under his belt.
 
With the retirement of former Proteas captain, Graeme Smith, Elgar is tipped to become the regular opening batsman in the South African test team.
 
Speaking to OFM Sport from Johannesburg, the diminutive opener said there are exciting times ahead.
 
Furthermore, he believes newly appointed Test captain, Hashim Amla, is the prefect man to lead the national team in the 5-day format.
South Africa travels to Sri Lanka next month, for a three One Day Internationals and two tests against the World T20 champions.
 
Meanwhile, South African crickets’ who’s who, gather in Sandton this evening as Proteas wicket-keeper/ batsman, AB de Villiers is set to be the big winner, at the annual Cricket South Africa Awards function.
 
De Villiers, has been nominated for the Cricketer of the Year, Test Cricketer of the Year and ODI Cricketer of the Year Awards.
 
Amla, who won the Cricket of the Year award last year, is up for the honours again.
 
Former Chevrolet Knights all-rounder, Ryan McLaren, has been nominated in the ODI category.
 
Nico Pretorius, who is the groundsman Chevrolet Park, is one of three nominees in the Groundsman of the Year category.
