Johnson rested for three remaining ODI's | News Article

Australia has decided to rest their dangerous left-arm fast bowler, Mitchell Johnson for the three remaining One Day Internationals against South Africa.

The Baggy Greens were dealt a major blow with captain Michael Clarke being ruled out for the rest of the series due a hamstring injury.

Johnson, who was on Friday named as the ICC’s Cricketer and Test Cricketer of the Year is being rested ahead of their Test series against India.

Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc have been added to their squad for the three ODI’s against the Proteas.

In addition, Tasmanian all-rounder James Faulkner will join the squad for the final two matches in Melbourne and Sydney once he has completed his current Sheffield Shield match in Hobart.

The two sides next face each on Wednesday at the Manuka Oval in Canberra.
