Cobras secure home final...Kimberley to determine play-off venue | News Article

The Chevrolet Knights and the Lions will fight it out on Wednesday evening to see which of the two teams will be hosting the play-off of RamSlam T20.

Yesterday the Dolphins won just their third match for the series when they dented the Lions hopes of finishing in the top spot of the series with a 5 wicket win in Bloemfontein.

The Chevrolet Knights in their turn put in the valiant effort to secure a win over the Cape Cobras who scored 145/4 in their innings, however the home side left the chase just too late and lost by 8 runs to the side from Cape Town who booked a home final.

Although the chase may have seemed late, the Cobras spinners Robin Peterson and George Linde properly turned the screws on the Knights, not giving the batsman an inch to work with.

In the third and final match of the triple header at Chevrolet Park, the Warriors beat the Titans by 20 runs for their 3rd win of the tournament.

The Titans were cruising at the halfway point of their chase of 149, with openers Henry Davids  and Heino Kuhn putting on 72 run opening partnership with the batsmna scoring 48 and 31 respectively.

Warriors spinners continued the days trend with Simon Harmer and Jon-Jon Smuts and Yaseen Vallie destroying the Titans batting line-up.

The Titans failed to hit a single boundary in the second half of their innings as they went on to finish on 128 for seven.

It was confirmed on good authority to OFM Sport last night that yesterdays' triple header in the City of Roses was the last with the format changing next year.

The three match spectacle will be reduced to double-headers due to the days cricket taking too long to complete and due to the turned around time between matches being too short.

Wednesday evenings match at the between the Knights and the Lions at the Diamond Oval gets underway at 18:00.
