Russell blasts the Windies to victory─── 09:23 Mon, 26 Jan 2015
The West Indies have got themselves on the board in the five-match One-Day International series against South Africa with a nail-biting one wicket win in Port Elizabeth.
The visitors chased down the 263-run target set by the Proteas with just 9 balls to spare, thanks to an outstanding effort with the bat by Andre Russell.
While David Miller scored his maiden ODI ton with a knock of 130 not out, it was the former Chevrolet Knights all-rounder who stole the show with 5 fours and 5 sixes.
“It was a massive boost,” Miller said.
“I have been feeling confident over the last few months but it was really nice to finally get the hundred. I believed over the last six, seven months that I can score a hundred so it was a great feeling to score the first one," Miller added about his landmark score.
At 73 for five, the Windies looked dead and buried but a 93-run partnership for the sixth wicket brought the visitors right back into contention.
Russell who scored 64 not out said the team applied themselves, something which they've been striving for all series.
South Africa still lead the series 3-1, with the 5th and final One-Day International being played on Wednesday in Centurion.
