The Toyota Cheetahs have been struck with a devastating blow ahead of the Super Rugby competition that kicks off in February.
The star-winger, Sergeal Petersen who joined the Cheetahs from the Kings will be out of action for approximately 8 weeks after breaking his jaw on Saturday.
The former South Africa U20 speedster sustained the injury during the sides 30-13 loss to the Bulls in Polokwane on Saturday in a Super Rugby warm-up game.
Furthermore, prop Maks van Dyk will undergo MRI Scans this morning for a suspected neck injury following the clash.
Springboks, Willie le Roux, Cornel Hendricks and Oupa Mohoje are expected to play on Friday evening when Naka Drotské’s chargers tackle the Stormers in Cape Town, before facing the Griffions in Welkom on Saturday.
The Cheetahs open their campaign against the Sharks on Saturday 14 February, at Kings' Park in Durban.
