English Lions draw first blood against SA A | News Article

The English Lions drew first blood in the five-match unofficial One-Day International series against South Africa A on Sunday.

The English won the first match at Chevrolet Park by 4–wickets after winning the toss and electing to field first.
 
South Africa were in trouble early in the match when Proteas batsman, Reeza Hendricks lost his wicket for a duck in the second over at his home ground.
 
New Zealand-born Ben Stokes was the chief destroyer for the English with four wickets for 22 runs as the home side were dismissed for 172 runs in 39.3 overs.
 
During the runs chase, Durban-born Jason Roy got the visitors off to a blistering start to 43 off 44 deliveries for the highest score of the match.
 
The visitors reached their target in 34.3 overs with six wickets down.
 
Chris Morris was South Africa’s best bowler turning in figures of 23 for two.
 
Following the match, Stokes told OFM Sport that they are looking forward to playing in Kimberley.
 
The two sides face each other on Wednesday in Kimberley, before heading Potchefstroom for Saturday’s 3rd 50-over match.
