Proteas start build-up to ICC Cricket World Cup on high note | News Article
The Proteas have started their build-up to the ICC Cricket World Cup on a high note by beating Sri Lanka by 5 wickets in Christchurch this morning in their rain effected warm-up match.

This morning South Africa won the toss against Sri Lanka and elected to field first.

Tillakaratne Dilshan scored 100 for the side from the subcontinent as they posted 279 for 7 in their allotted 50 overs.

Wicketkeeper-batsman, Quinton de Kock returned to form with 66 runs to lead the charge as South Africa chased down the reduced target off 188 runs off 24.3 overs.

Seam bowler, Kyle Abbott feels that Dilshan will be an important part of the Sri Lankan batting line up, and he shared these sentiments about De Kock as well.

“These are two players that can take away the game from any attack on any given day”, Abott further added.

South Africa face New Zealand on Wednesday in their second warm-up match, before taking on Zimbabwe in Hamilton in their tournament opener on Sunday.
