SA look to maintain standards against the Black Caps | News Article

The Proteas will be looking to maintain their high standards tomorrow when they face New Zealand in their second of two warm-up matches ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup.

Yesterday South Africa beat the Sri Lanka by five wickets at the Hagely Oval in Christchurch after rain reduced their target to 188 of 25 overs according to the Duckworth-Lewis method.

The in-form Blacks Caps however will be a totally different kettle of fish on their home soil.

While according to the South Africa’s results don’t matter too much, they are just looking to get into the swing of things.

Seamer, Kyle Abbott who took three wickets yesterday says there isn’t too much strategy going into the warm-up games.

“We didn’t strategise too much about this game,” Abbott said.
“These warm-up games are here to get the guys running out, batsmen getting time out in the middle and bowlers getting overs under their belts. You can do it in a normal net practice but it is totally different.

"We are going to keep our standards as high as possible but we didn’t strategise and looking forward to Wednesday I don’t think we are going to do too much either.

Tomorrow morning’s match at the Hagley Oval gets underway at midnight, while South Africa open their account on Sunday when they take on Zimbabwe in their first Group B match.
