The action at the World Cup resumed this morning with South Africa taking on Ireland at the Manuka Oval in Canberra.

This morning South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first against the Irish.

The South Africans named an unchanged side to the won which beat the West Indies by 257 runs in Sydney last week.

Strike bowler, Dale Steyn becomes the 19th South African player to play in his 100th One Day International, and is joint-second with Makhaya Ntini behind Allan Donald for the most number of wickets after 100 matches.

At a 100 games Steyn and Ntini each have 154 wickets, while Donald had 170.

While Quinton de Kock once again failed upfront with the bat, Hashim Amla put on a 247 partnership for the second wicket.

Amla scored his 20th ODI ton in reaching 159, while Du Plessis scored 109 off 109 balls for his fourth ton.

A lot of focus has been on AB de Villiers with pundits feeling that the South African skipper can also score 200 runs in an ODI innings after his unbeaten 162 off 66 balls last week.

Irish skipper, William Porterfield said they can’t control De Villiers’ form, but they will focus on controlling what they can.

De Villiers however took to the slog and scored 24 from 9 deliveries before being dismissed.

After beating England, having their game against the Bangladesh abandoned due to Cyclone Marcia and their one wicket loss to the Black Caps the pressure is on the Aussies in match which will normally be considered as a walk in the park.

Australia captain Michael Clarke says they are confident, but it’s up to them to turn things around of their loss to New Zealand.

The match at the WACA gets underway at 8:30 tomorrow morning.

In Napier, the battling Pakistan are looking to regain their form when they taking on the tenacious United Arab Emirates.

With disappointing performances with the bat in the tournament the 1992 champions are targeting plenty of runs.

With most of the team in Group B targeting the third sport behind India and South Africa, captain Misbah Ul Haq says he side need to focus on winning all their games.
