New fresh look for the Proteas | News Article

The South African national cricket team will enter somewhat of a new era when they tour Bangladesh next month with the team facing Tigers in a Test, One-Day International and T20 International series.

Last week Cricket South Africa named their three squads for the tour and sees among others Reeza Hendricks of the Knights in the Test squad for the first time.

Last night in Johannesburg, New Balance was unveiled as the sides new kit sponsor for the next five-years.

New Balance country manager, Craig Bowen told OFM Sport that the same designers who worked on the design of the English Premiership football side Liverpool’s kits, were in change of designing the Proteas outfits.

Proteas seamer, Kyle Abbott told OFM Sport that it’s going to be an interesting few months for the national side.

“We’ve been apart from each other for a while now and it’s always great getting back and seeing the guys and it’s always an exciting time when the Proteas get together no matter where,” the seamer said about the team getting together.

“You’re right, it’s going to be an interesting couple of months for us and it’s going to be a true test of our character, but playing for your country we don’t need much motivation playing another series,” Abbott added about the upcoming tour of Bangladesh.

“Having New Balance on board is a nice fresh face and it’s some great kit,” he said sporting the brand new yellow T20I kit which will be more regularly available when they hit the shelves in October.

Meanwhile, national coach Russell Domingo’s national contract has been extended by a further two-years’ during a CSA board meeting yesterday. Domingo will be in charge of the side until 30 April 2017.

At the same meeting, former Proteas seamer, Charl Langeveldt was appointed at the Proteas new bowling coach, filling the vacancy after bowling great Allan Donald resigned earlier this year.

The Proteas tour to Bangladesh gets underway on 5 July with the first T20 International in Mirpur.
