Bangledesh beat SA by 7 wickets | News Article

Bangladesh has returned to winning ways and drawn the three-match One-Day International series against South Africa level with a seven wicket win in Mirpur.

The Proteas won the toss yesterday and elected to bat first, however were only able to set the home side a target of 163 runs for the win.

Only Faf du Plessis and Farhaan Berhardien were able to trouble the scorers with knocks of 41 and 36 runs respectively.

Bangladesh made light work of the run chase by researching the low total with 134 balls to spare, thanks to the efforts with the willow by Soumya Sarkar who scored 88 not out and Mohammad Mahmudullah who notched up 50 runs.

Following the match, Berhardien said that there was nothing wrong with the wicket South Africa just never arrived for the game.

"We weren’t surprised at all, the way they have been playing in the last month against Pakistan and India has been good, it was not a surprise at all, we know what they are capable of.

"We were off the mark today, they started really well with a few early wickets, even then I thought we played the first 10 overs really well. The spinners got in the game and we lost regular wickets.

"I don’t know if it was a pressure situation, I think there were maybe a few soft dismissals.

Meanwhile, Rilee Rossouw of the Knights has been found guilty of breaching Article 2.2.7 of the ICC Code of Conduct after a shoulder-barging incident with Tamim Iqbal.

The incident in question occurred after Tamim was bowled out by Kagiso Rabada's first over.

Rossouw, who was walking towards the huddle that had gathered around Rabada, went across Tamim and appeared to nudge his left shoulder.

Tamim immediately pointed this out to the umpires, later reported it to the match referee.

Rossouw could face a fine or suspension or both, with a verdict expected to be announced on Tuesday.

The series decider will be played in Chittagong on Wednesday and of the first Test at the same venue.
