Germany’s Tony Martin has become the second yellow jersey wearer at the 102nd Tour de France to withdraw from the race.
During the final kilometre of yesterday’s sixth stage, Martin crashed and in the process shattered his collarbone.
The rider was able to complete the race and retain the yellow jersey, however is unable complete the gruelling tour.
Earlier in the week, Switzerland’s Fabian Cancellara was force to quit the race after a horrific high speed crash which left six riders withdrawing, including South Africa’s Daryl Impey, while Cancellara broke his back.
Martin’s teammate Zdenek Stybar won the stage, while team MTN-Qhubeka’s Daniel Teklehaimanot has claimed the King of the Mountains’ polka dot jersey.
Today’s 7th stage rides for 190.5 kms from Livarot to Fougères.
